A mechanical locking mechanism that installs into the stock carrier case in place of the spider and side gears. This is a very low priced unit that is fairly easy for the average vehicle owner to install if they are somewhat mechanically inclined. This unit was originally designed by Power-Trax and is still produced by them. It has also been copied by Tractech in the form of an "Easy Locker". These work great for occasional off-roaders, or for use in front differentials. This is a mechanical locking device that drives with the same results to the wheels as a Detroit Locker, but uses the standard carrier case and cross pin and does not include any parts to dampen the banging and clunking associated with a locking differential. Provides 100% lockup when traction is needed. The reuse of the original carrier case keeps the cost down, but offers no more strength than the stock carrier case.

Power is transferred to the wheels through intermeshing teeth in such a way that one wheel cannot be powered ahead of the other. When entering a turn, where the outside wheel needs to travel faster than the inside wheel, the teeth driving the outside wheel disengage. The Lock-Right Locker is quieter than competing locking differentials, but nonetheless, as the vehicle continues through the turn, the teeth repeatedly engage and disengage producing a ratcheting sound.

Lock-Rite - Not as loud as some claim. April 23, 2015
Reviewer: Trevor from Sheffield, ON Canada
Read up on some other reviews where people claimed these things made loud clicking noises taking corners on pavement.  Doesn't seem the case in build.
As part of a budget minded build for added traction against having open difs I first talked with an old friend who's been wrenching on Toyotas since he could use his diaper as an oil rag before buying this unit.  He's been running the same one for 12 years without issue.
I'm only rating 4 stars because the instructions took a little guess work due to the pictures looking like black and white blobs.  Lock-Rite should really update these.
