Is your stock 22R, or 22RE engine just not enough power anymore? Then it's time to step up to the Stage 2. Are you driving on back roads, playing in the mud and snow, negotiating rocky, rutted trails, and severe rock crawling, that demand excellent low-end torque and horsepower? Wouldn't it be great to kick it up a notch? LC Engineering offers a unique solution for those who want some tremendous bottom-end power with excellent torque over a broad RPM range. With extras like Chromoly connecting rods, adjustable cam gear, dual valve springs, Chromoly retainers, the Stage 2 is the answer to your performance and strength needs. The Stage 2 series makes an excellent off-road engine or even an entry-level race engine for those not quite ready for a Stage 3 or 5. With the ability to run on anything from a downdraft Weber to a Holley to a sidedraft set-up, this is one of LC Engineering's most versatile engines.
All Stage 2 Series Engines come with the following components:
Your Choice of Custom Performance Camshafts or LC Pro Camshafts
A Long Block is an automotive term describing an engine sub-assembly consisting of the following:
Short Block: The long block is always a super-set of the corresponding short block.
Cylinder Head: A complete new cylinder head assembly is installed with a new head gasket and torqued to specification. (LC uses only new heads and parts on 85+ late model engines) Complete cylinder heads include new valve springs, valve guides (if applicable), valve seats (if applicable), cam buckets (if applicable), valve locks, and valve keepers. The new head castings are free from cracks, warps, and holes.
On all LC Engineering engines, the camshaft(s) will be installed. A Long Block engine replacement will require swapping out parts from the original engine to the long block. These parts include the intake manifold, the exhaust manifold, alternator, power steering pump (if installed in the vehicle), and air conditioner compressor (if installed in the vehicle). As a general rule of thumb, all LC Pro long blocks will be assembled entirely from valve cover to oil pan, but will not include intake, exhaust, or ignition.

Master Bushing Sets include polyurethane front and rear spring and shackle bushings, front sway bar bushings, torque arm bushings, body mounts, and tie-rod end boots. One of the most important keys to building a performance engine is to have components that match up and are designed to work together in harmony. If you have an awesome cam and carburetor a good flowing intake will make sure you're getting the most benefit from those parts.
With a large open plenum and runners, our customized Offenhauser manifold will greatly outflow your stock Toyota manifold and supply your engine with enough airflow to support the power goals you're shooting for. The single plane design provides an excellent mid-range to upper RPM power without sacrificing low-end torque. The casting is designed with a Weber carburetor flange so you can bolt your performance carburetor straight to the manifold without the need for any adapters. All the same vacuum and sensor ports as your stock manifold are included. If you have plans in your build to not use any of those ports, see our plug kit listed below.
This manifold is designed to use a rubber style thermostat gasket, instead of the stock paper flat gasket.

NOTES: This manifold requires a 1981-1982 thermostat housing which is no longer available from Toyota. You can use the later style thermostat housing with our Thermostat Housing Adapter listed above. This manifold uses an 8 bolt bottom plate. If you do not have an 8 bolt plate on your manifold you will need to purchase our Water Plate Under Manifold listed above. This manifold does not allow clearance for the factory heater outlet. If keeping the heater, you will need to block the original supply on the head with the Pro Water Block Kit above and run heater supply from the water plate on the bottom of the manifold. If your plate does not have a hose barb to connect to, we would recommend our Water Plate Under Manifold listed above. You will need to purchase the Pro Water Block Plate Kit if removing or changing the location of the heater supply as outlined above.
