Street Ignition Kit

(F.A.S.T. Ignition)

Experience increased ignition power and efficiency. Get the power and performance you need with our Street & Strip multi-spark digital capacitive discharge ignition boxes. The capacitive discharge systems create the strongest spark possible at full voltage, with multiple sparks below 3,000 rpm to improve starting ability, idle quality, and throttle response, while preventing plug fouling due to cylinder load-up. These ignition boxes are potted in vibration and moisture-resistant urethane to shake off whatever the trail throws your way. The Fast ignition box gives you up to 37 percent more energy than stock to give your trail truck the powerful spark it needs to conquer the back roads. This kit offers all the benefits of our other ignition kits with an extremely easy hookup. Simple fast installation makes this kit the best option for any fuel injected distributor style ignition. This ignition system requires the retention of the factory 22re igniter.

Features:

  • 50 state legal CARB E.O., D-225-59
  • For 4, 6, 8 cylinder with distributor.
  • Up to 70% more spark-gap energy than stock ignitions.
  • Max output up to 8,000 RPM for up to 9.5:1 comp. ratio.
  • Soft-urethane encapsulation seals against moisture, dirt, dust, vibration, heat.
  • Points or module triggered.
  • Built-in adjustable rev limiter in 100 RPM increments from 3100-9900 RPM.
  • Inductive ignition with long duration spark.
  • Low cost boost retard (with optional MAP sensor) or 0-20 degrees of selectable nitrous retard.

NOTE: For the complete kit for carbureted engines, see Part #: 1082021 and for the replacement Pro coil, see Part #: 1082030 .

These instructions are specific for our Crane Ignition kits being installed on a 22RE or 3VZ (fuel injected only) vehicle. These are Crane's basic magnetic trigger hook-up instructions with some minor modifications to make them more specific for your Toyota 22RE / 3VZ.

Installation Instructions:

    1. Ground: Connect the heavy black HI-6S wire directly to chassis ground. Use the supplied â…œ" ring terminal

    2. Power / Coil: Identify Stock Coil -/+. If you are unsure, refer to your vehicle's wiring diagram, or use the following procedure. Label and disconnect OE wires from the coil. Turn the ignition switch on. Use a 12volt test light or voltmeter. The wire from the ignition switch to coil + will be hot. Cut the wires from the coil and connect to the HI-6S adapter harness as shown. All OE wiring to the coil must be interrupted and routed through the HI-6S adapter harness.

    3. Cylinder Select: The blue wire is used to program the rev limiter and retard feature for the correct number of cylinders as shown in the diagram. For 4 cylinder engines, connect the wire to the red switched +12 volt wire with a 3M splice. For 6 cylinder engines, connect the wire to ground with a ¼" ring terminal.

    4. Digital Input: The yellow/white wire used to activate retard and rev limit functions. In this application we hook the yellow/white wire to a 12+ volt to activate the rev limiter function. This can be connected to the red power the same lead as we hook up to the blue wire for cylinder select on a 22R/RE. Optional: In some applications, the digital input is connected to a switch that also controls a line lock or transmission brake solenoid.

    5. Map Sensor: This is optional and is only needed for boosted applications. See Crane instructions for more information.

Crane Street Ignition Kit For EFI 22RE/RET/3VZ

Posted by Rick Barrow on Oct 9th 2013

Easy to install with the specific instructions provided by ya'll! It cranked right up on the first try! I was a little nervous at first about snipping such crucial wires. But after finding the 12v wire in to the ignitor the rest was easy! The black wire with the red stripe closest to the clip fastener is the 12v power source. I think there should be a included coil to distributor cap wire that already has the appropriate connectors attached. I had to carefully remove the insulator boot and the connector from the new set of Pro Spark Plug Wire Set so I could switch the L connector to fit on the new coil. Easy, but nerve racking to a non-professional and a high dollar set of new plug wires. Could you think about including some self-tapping sheet metal screws for mounting it?

Easy to install in my Toyota 3.0 V6. It seems to run smoother, and has more power. But I admit, I already installed LC Pro Air Intake prior to installing the Crane Ignition Kit.
