Superior Manufacturing & Materials

  • 8620 Tool-Grade Steel: Forged from high-strength 8620 alloy and heat-treated to exacting standards for maximum wear resistance and impact strength.
  • Gleason CNC Technology: Gear teeth are cut using industry-leading Gleason CNC hobbing machines. This results in unprecedented accuracy and a superior surface finish, allowing for higher torque transmission and quieter operation.
  • Efficiency & Smoothness: The precision finish reduces friction, which not only improves fuel efficiency but also ensures these gears run cool and quiet during highway commutes.

Optimizing Your Gear Ratio:

Changing your tire size significantly impacts your engine's power band. Moving from a 30" to a 35" tire alters your final drive ratio by approximately 17%, often resulting in sluggish performance. Re-gearing restores that lost torque and brings your RPMs back into the optimal range.

Recommended Ratios for Toyota Trucks:

  • 4.88 Gears: Ideal for 33" tires to restore factory-like performance.
  • 5.29 Gears: The standard choice for 35" tires and larger to maximize off-road torque.

Technical Specifications

  • Application: Toyota 8" High Pinion (Commonly used in FJ80 fronts or high-pinion retrofits).
  • Material: 8620 Steel.

-Tech Tip: Gear ratio is calculated by dividing the number of teeth on the ring gear by the teeth on the pinion. A higher numerical ratio (like 5.29) is "lower" geared, providing more mechanical advantage=essential for turning heavy off-road tires and crawling over technical obstacles without stalling the engine.

    • 1979-1985 Toyota 4WD Front (8" Solid Axle)
    • 1986-1995 Toyota 4WD Rear (8" Housing)

    -Note: Does not fit 8" V6/Turbo 3-pinion or 8.4" Tacoma-style housings.
