An Honest Note on FJ55 Coverage

The FJ55 — the "Iron Pig" — is the wagon that bridged the 40 Series and the 60 Series, and it has a devoted following. Our catalog for it is thin, and we would rather say so on the page than have you click through six subcategories to find that out.

What is listed above is largely universal equipment that suits an FJ55 as well as any other older truck: winches and recovery gear, mufflers and exhaust components, electric cooling fans, carburetors and fuel system parts, and gauges. Those are real parts and they fit. What we do not currently stock is FJ55-specific driveline, body or trim.

Where the Overlap Actually Is

The FJ55 shares a great deal with the 40 Series underneath — front axle architecture, much of the driveline, and the F and 2F engines. In practice that means our 40 Series page is the more useful place to start for anything mechanical. The birfield and CV axle upgrades listed there for the "40/55 Series" are explicitly cut for the 55 as well as the 40, and the pre-1979 bushing set covers both.

Worth knowing before you order: the RCV and Longfield front axle parts we carry are cut for 1976–1984 knuckles. If your FJ55 is earlier than that, the front axle is a different design and those parts will not fit.

You can also work through the wider Toyota Land Cruiser catalog, or the 60 Series page if your FJ55 has had a later driveline swapped under it — a common enough modification that it is worth checking.

If you are after something specific for an FJ55 and cannot find it, contact us. We source a lot that is not listed, and on a truck this old the right answer is often a phone call rather than a part number.
