The third-generation Toyota 4Runner (1996–2002) is the platform LC Engineering has built its modern 4Runner identity around. It carries two engines: the 3RZ-FE 2.7-liter four-cylinder and the 5VZ-FE 3.4-liter V6. The 5VZ-FE is the marquee engine of the era — Toyota's first DOHC truck V6, the engine that anchored the 3rd gen 4Runner, the 1st gen Tacoma, and the 1st gen Tundra. LCE launched a replacement 5VZ long block in August 2025 that has become a center of gravity for the 5VZ rebuilder community.

Our 3rd gen 4Runner catalog is the deepest LCE 4Runner catalog by margin.
