The 2TR-FE is the 2.7-litre four-cylinder Toyota has used since 2005 — second and third generation Tacoma, fourth generation 4Runner, and a long list of trucks outside the US. It replaced the 3RZ and kept the same job. LC Engineering builds one of the very few supercharger systems on the market for it, along with headers, valvetrain and the parts a high-mileage 2TR actually needs.
Safety Auto Rod Bearing Set
Â
When overhauling/rebuilding an engine, it is highly recommended that you replace all bearings in the bottom end. These bearing sets will get your engine back to the...
Collector Gasket
LC Engineering only uses factory Toyota exhaust gaskets on the 2TR Exhaust or our Street Header. This ensures that you get the best seal on your exhaust with no chance of burning...
Clutch Slave Cylinder
Restore precise, reliable clutch operation with this complete hydraulic replacement kit. The clutch slave cylinder, typically mounted on the side of the transmission, works in...
Exhaust Gasket
OEM Toyota gaskets offer the best possible seal for your stock manifold or header. All the LC Engineering headers are designed to use the factory style gaskets. Traditional paper...
2TR Inconel Exhaust ValveÂ
Maximize the high-temperature performance and airflow of your 2TR-FE engine with our +1mm Oversized Inconel Exhaust Valves. Measuring at 32.50mm (1mm larger than the 31...
Flywheel Bolt Kit
(OEM)
Connect that flywheel with confidence. These OEM flywheel bolts are just what the doctor ordered to connect your flywheel to your engine. They have a black oxide finish to...
OE Head Bolts
If you ever remove your cylinder head, you should always replace the head bolts to prolong the service life of your engine. Cylinder head bolts go through a lot of stress, even in...
Exhaust Valve
(Street / Stock Size)
These stainless steel valves are given a special anti-friction coating to promote better airflow and minimize resistance in the valve guide. High performance...

+1MM Intake Valve
(Nitride / 38.50MM)
These valves are 1MM larger than stock, great for ported street heads that don't need the huge oversized valves. The black nitride valves are stainless steel...
Balance Shaft Bearing Remove & Install Tool
This is a custom designed tool (machined from billet aluminum) for removing and installing balance shaft bearings in 3RZ and 2TR engines.

Viton Valve Seals
Viton Valve Seals are the latest in valve seal material, surpassing Teflon! Heat resistant to 440 degrees, they eliminate oil consumption through the valve guide and provide...
Written 2TR, 2TRFE or 2TR-FE, and often just called the 2.7. All the same engine.
Boost It — The Supercharger
This is the reason most people arrive here. The 2TR 2.7L Tacoma supercharger kit is a complete system, and there is very little else available for this engine from anyone.
Worth setting expectations honestly, because the 2.7 Tacoma is a truck people buy for reasons other than speed. A blower on a 2TR will not make it a fast truck. What it does is give it the mid-range it always lacked — merging, towing, climbing a grade without dropping two gears. That is a real improvement in how the truck drives every day, and it is the right reason to fit one.
If you are chasing outright power on a 2.7 four-cylinder, the honest answer is that the money goes further elsewhere.
Bolt-On Power
The Power Package for the 2005-2015 Tacoma bundles the naturally aspirated bolt-ons that work together rather than fighting each other — the usual starting point before anyone considers boost.
The Pro Valve Train Kit for the 2TR-FE is the foundation for any build that adds boost or revs, and the Inconel exhaust valve is the answer where heat is the problem — forced induction, sustained towing, or a truck that lives at altitude.
Like the 3RZ before it, the 2TR runs balance shafts, and they carry the same trade-off. They cost a little power and oil pressure to drive, and their bearings are a known wear item on high-mileage engines.
Our view: on a stock daily-driven Tacoma, leave them alone. The engine is smoother with them and you will notice their absence at motorway speed far more than you will notice the power. On a built or boosted truck, delete them.
Maintain It
The water pump covers 1995-2023 across the RZ and TR families, and the OEM flywheel bolt kit is the sort of thing you only discover you need with the gearbox already out.
Related Engines
The 3RZ-FE is this engine's direct predecessor and shares the balance shaft design and several parts. The 2RZ-FE 2.4L is the smaller engine from that same era.
We are still adding to the 2TR range. If there is something you need for this engine that you cannot find here, tell us what you are working on — we would rather hear about the gap than have you assume we cannot help. And if you would prefer we built the engine, let us do your build.
