Read This Before You Buy: These Kits Are 2WD

The DJM control arm kits on this page are listed for the 1989-1995 2WD Pickup. If your truck is 4WD, a lowered stance is a different conversation — call us rather than ordering from this page.

Lowering a Torsion Bar Truck Is Two Separate Jobs

Front and rear come down by completely different mechanisms, which is why kits are sold as 3/3, 3/4 and so on:

  • The front rides on torsion bars. You can wind the bars down, but that unloads the suspension and the ride goes to pieces. The better route is a drop control arm, which lowers the truck while leaving the bars at their factory load and keeping the original spring rate and travel.
  • The rear is leaf-sprung, and comes down with a lowering block between the axle and the spring.

That is the whole reason a bolt-in control arm costs more than a block: it is doing the harder half of the job without ruining how the truck drives.

Complete Kits

  • DJM Complete Lowering Kit, 3" front and 3" rear — 1989-1995 2WD Pickup. Bolt-in control arms drop the front with no load change on the torsion bars, paired with DJM universal lowering blocks for the matching rear drop. Note: ball joints are not included.
  • DJM lowering kit for the 1989-1995 Pickup — a second DJM kit combining re-engineered front control arms with a heavy-duty rear block kit. Check the listing for the exact front and rear drop before ordering.

Front Only

The DJM Calmax Lowering Control Arms give a 3" front drop on the 1989-1995 2WD Pickup without adjusting or unloading the factory torsion bars, so the suspension keeps its original spring rate and travel and avoids the harsh ride that comes from simply winding the bars down.

Rear Only

The DJM steel lowering block kit, 3" rear is the cheapest single change on this page and the usual starting point if you want the back down first.

Torsion Bars

Front ride height on these trucks lives in the torsion bars, so they sit on this page too:

Planning the Stance

Tell us the year, whether it is 2WD, your wheel and tyre size and how low you actually want it, and we will tell you which combination gets there without wrecking the ride. The rest of the truck is in the 1989-1995 Pickup suspension section and the full 1989-1995 catalogue.
