Header Stud Set
The factory exhaust manifold studs have a shoulder in the center that can interfere with proper header tightening. Our 10mm x 1.25 x 48mm long, heat-treated plated header mounting studs are stronger than stock. Works with a stock manifold or any header.
Kit Includes:
- (8) Studs
- (8) Mechanical locking nuts
NOTE: Torque to 33 Ft. Lbs. The short side of the stud will go into the head.
Installation & Torque Notes
- Installation Orientation: When threading the hardware into the cylinder head, ensure the short-threaded side of the stud is inserted into the head.
- Torque Specification: Tighten all nuts in a progressive sequence to 33 ft-lbs using a calibrated torque wrench. Do not over-torque.

Technical Installation Instructions
1. Old Hardware Removal
- Disassembly: Remove the original exhaust manifold studs from the cylinder head.
- Pro Tip: If the factory studs are seized or difficult to break loose, apply a high-quality penetrating lubricant (such as WD-40 Specialist, PB Blaster, or Kroll) to the threads and allow it to soak overnight before attempting removal to prevent snaping the hardware in the head.
2. Stud Installation & Orientation
- Orientation: Identify the shorter threaded portion of the new performance stud. This is the end that must be threated directly into the cylinder head.
- Tightening: Thread the studs into the cylinder head until they bottom out. They should only be installed hand-tight.
3. Exhaust Manifold/Header & Torque Procedure
- Gasket Preparation: Position your exhaust gasket and header onto the studs. Note: LC Engineering performance headers and exhaust gaskets are engineered to seal perfectly dry-they do not require the use of any RTV or silicone sealants.
- Optional Sealant: If you choose to utilize a chemical sealant anyway, you must ensure it is explicitly rated as Oxygen Sensor Safe to prevent damaging your vehicle's emissions sensors.
- Torque Specification: Install the included mechanical locking flange nuts and torque them in a progressive sequence to 33 ft-lbs.
Double-Nut Installation & Removal Technique
If you do not own a dedicated stud installation/removal socket, you can easily manage the hardware using two standard metric nuts:
- Thread the Nuts: Thread one 10mm x 1.25 nut halfway down the open side of the stud. Thread a second 10mm nut down right on top of it until the two nuts sit flush against each other.
- Lock Them Together: Place a box wrench on each nut and tighten them firmly against one another in opposing directions. This locks the nuts together onto the stud threads.
- Removal: To back a stubborn stud out of the head, place your wrench on the inner nut (the one closest to the engine block) and turn counterclockwise. The locked nuts will transfer the rotational force and turn the stud out.
- Installation: To seat a new stud into the head, place your wrench on the outer nut (the one furthest from the engine block) and turn clockwise until the stud is hand-tight in the block.
- Unlock: Once completed, use your two wrenches to loosen the nuts from each other and spin them off the stud.
