The MP62 Is Out, the TVS 900 Is In
Our RZ supercharger kits have been redesigned around a new charger body. The MP62 has been replaced by the TVS 900 — more efficient, more power, better cooling, and still C.A.R.B. legal in the smog-legal configurations.
If you are already running a previous-generation charger, this is an upgrade rather than a replacement; it was developed with existing owners in mind.
Why a Supercharger Suits the 2.4
A supercharger is belt driven from the crankshaft, so boost arrives with engine speed rather than exhaust flow — no spool, no lag, more torque from idle to redline.
That matters more on a 2.4 than on almost anything else we sell. The smaller engine is the one that feels short of torque with a load, a trailer or larger tyres, and low-speed torque is exactly what a blower adds. A turbo will make a bigger peak number; the supercharger makes the truck nicer to drive every day.
Choosing Your Kit
1. Which manifold?
2. Does it need to be smog legal?
- Low boost, 1995-1999 8-port — smog legal.
- Low boost, 2000-2004 4-port — smog legal for 2000 and 2001 only. It fits 2002-2004 but is not a legal installation there.
- High boost — not a smog-legal configuration in any year.
Pulleys Set the Boost
A smaller pulley spins the blower faster and makes more boost. That is the whole mechanism.
- 73mm — 2RZ smog legal. Note this is the 2RZ-specific pulley — the 3RZ uses a 70mm. Fitting the wrong one changes your boost and voids the C.A.R.B. exemption.
- 58mm — high boost. Requires our 5th injector system (part 7010049) and can over-rev the blower at sustained high rpm.
- 55mm — high elevation. For customers at altitude, where the same pulley produces less actual boost.
These pulleys are listed for MP62 supercharger bodies. If you are ordering a current TVS 900 kit, talk to us before buying a pulley separately.
Supporting Parts
The bracket kit includes the L bracket, straight bracket and hardware, and fits TRD, Alpine or LC Engineering superchargers. The lower supercharger manifold is the bottom half of the intake. Service items: the bypass valve for Magnuson-bodied kits and the 4-rib drive belt, worth carrying as a spare.
Before You Order
Start with a healthy engine. Boost finds every weakness a tired engine has. If yours is high mileage, a rebuild or a fresh long block first will cost less than a supercharger on a worn bottom end.
