Overland parts for the Toyota FJ Cruiser — lighting, winches and recovery gear, suspension and link hardware, and FJ-specific armor. LC Engineering has been building Toyota trucks that get used since 1985, and this is the gear that keeps a weekend trip from becoming a recovery.

The FJ Cruiser is already most of the way there from the factory — solid frame, real transfer case, 4.0L V6 that will not quit. What it lacks is not capability, it is margin. Overlanding is about the distance between where you are and where help is, and closing that gap comes down to four things:
You can see. The stock headlights are aimed for a road. Everything past the road is unlit.
You can get unstuck. Alone, without a phone signal, without a second truck.
The suspension survives the load. A loaded FJ on stock bump stops rides very differently from an empty one.
The vulnerable parts are covered. Rockers and rear quarters are the ones that get hit.
Work in that order. A light bar on a truck with no recovery gear is the wrong first purchase.
Lighting — Beam Pattern Matters More Than Length
Most of this category is lighting, and the single most common mistake is buying by inches instead of by pattern. A 40-inch spot bar and a 40-inch driving bar do completely different jobs.
Wide cornering is the one people skip and then buy second. It lights the ditch you are about to turn into. Squadron Sport wide cornering pair, and the Squadron Sport spot if you want the pair to do two different jobs.
If you want backlit bars for running lights, the Radiance+ curved 20" and 40" do that without a second circuit. On a budget, the Pro Comp bars cover the same patterns — DR48 double row, SR48 single row and the DR6 for a bumper mount.
One practical note: anything over about 20 inches wants a relay and a fused feed straight off the battery, not a splice into an existing circuit. Wire it properly the first time.
Winches and Recovery
The part of the build that matters most and gets bought last. A winch turns a stuck truck into an inconvenience.
Size it to the truck, not to the badge. Rule of thumb is one and a half times gross vehicle weight, and a loaded FJ is heavier than people expect once the rack, the fuel and the water are on it.
Suspension, Lift and Ride Under Load
A loaded overland truck spends its life on the bump stops if nothing is done about it, and that is what breaks mounts and cracks welds.
For the full lift picture across every Toyota platform, including brand options this page does not carry, see Toyota lift kits.
Link Suspension Hardware
For builds that go past bolt-on. These are the joints and limiters that make a linked rear end work, and they are the same parts we use on our own long-travel trucks.
Be aware that most of what is on this page is universal rather than FJ-specific, which is normal for overland gear — a light bar does not care what it is bolted to. The parts that are genuinely FJ-specific are the rock sliders, the rear bumper support tubes and the ReadyLIFT kit. Everything else fits the FJ because it fits almost anything, and mounting is on you.
