Front Axle Upgrades for the Early 70 Series

Our strongest 70 Series parts are for the 1984–1989 front axle, which shares its architecture with the late 40 Series. The RCV Ultimate 30-spline CV front axle set covers 40/55 Series 1976-1984 and 70 Series 1984-1989, and the 300M shaft version upgrades the inner shafts at the same time.

These replace the factory birfield with a true CV joint. On a 70 Series running larger tires and a front locker that is the difference between a trail repair and a drive home.

22R and 22R-E: the RJ70 Connection

You will see 22R and 22R-E long blocks and supercharger kits listed on this page, and it is worth explaining why. The 70 Series was sold in many markets with the 22R four-cylinder — the RJ70 and RJ73 — and that is the same engine family LC Engineering has been building since 1985. If you have an RJ-chassis truck, or a 70 Series that has had a 22R fitted, our four-cylinder catalog is genuinely deep:

• 22R/RE Stage 2 Pro Street long block — complete, ready to install
• 22R/RE Stage 3 Pro long block — more cam and compression
• 22R-E supercharger kit, low boost (5 psi)
• 22R-E supercharger kit, high boost (10 psi)

To be clear about fitment: these are engine parts, not 70 Series chassis parts. They fit the 22R engine wherever it sits. If your 70 Series has a 3F, 1FZ, or a diesel 1HZ or 1PZ, these are not your parts — and we do not currently build for those engines.
