Street Header Kit
(47 State Legal)
Whether your truck is bone stock or built for extra performance, the LC Engineering Street Header is the "best bang for your buck" bolt-on part you can buy. You should expect to see a 10-15% power increase with a good boost to the top-end of the powerband where these trucks struggle. With so many choices for a header on the market, some certainly being cheaper, we can understand if you are struggling with the decision of which one to buy. We can tell you there is a good reason why our header is still the #1 on the market and worth the extra cost.
Our most popular product is the street header kits. LC Engineering uses all 304 1 1/2" Stainless steel tubing, a huge 1/2" thick steel header to head flange and 3/8" thick steel 2-1/4" flange at the collector that accepts the stock Toyota round exhaust gasket. As if that were not enough, the whole package is coated in a high temp ceramic coating. To make the install easy on you LC Engineering supplies you with all the gaskets needed to bolt your header on your vehicle. Our header flanges are cut to allow the use of OEM exhaust manifold gaskets. These gaskets feature a metal crush fire ring and a heat deflector for the plug wires. No cheap paper gaskets to blow out with an LC Engineering Header.
Here are a few reasons why:
- LC Engineering has been designing, testing, producing and installing these headers for more than 20 years.
- Since we focus on Toyota performance parts we spend the extra time to make these headers the best they can be.
- Our header is made with high-quality materials.
- Our header is coated in a high-temperature ceramic coating.
- Our head side flange is designed to retain use of the OEM exhaust manifold gasket, the gasket features a metal crush fire ring and a heat deflector for the spark plug wires.
- We supply all the gaskets you need to complete the install.
Kit Includes:
- 2WD (82-95) Street Header
- 22R/RE Header Connector Pipe
- Includes Air Injection Block Off Plates (2)
- Street Header Gasket Set (85-95 Specific)
All Toyota Pickups manufactured before 1988 came from the factory with a single wire oxygen sensor, these sensors were non-heated because they were installed in the exhaust manifold very close to the cylinder head where there is a lot of heat. If you have a pre-1988 pickup, when installing our Street Header Kit you will notice that the oxygen sensor provision (bung) has been moved downstream from its factory location. We recommend that anyone with a pre-1988 application utilize our universal 4 wire heated O2 sensor in place of the factory single wire. An O2 sensor must be hot to generate a signal, further downstream the exhaust can be too cool for a non-heated O2 sensor to operate on it's own. A heated O2 sensor gets the sensor up to operating temperature faster and keeps it there. An added benefit to moving the sensor further downstream (and why all modern cars have at least one downstream) is the exhaust gasses are at a more homogeneous mixture, which gives a clearer reading for the computer to adjust fuel delivery. This can improve drivability and gas mileage.
NOTE: We cannot quote fitment to any chassis before 1982. This header kit fits 85-95 2 Wheel drive trucks, auto or manual transmission, and includes an adjustable connector pipe that will connect to most factory catalytic converters. Not for 4Runners 2WD or 4WD. 1984-1995 4Runners were based on a 4wd truck chassis, see Part #: 1041036 for 4Runner fitment. Vehicles made from 1988-1995 come from the factory with a heated O2 sensor and changing the sensor is not necessary unless the one currently installed is damaged. See Universal Heated O2 Part #: 1065034 (Sensor not California Smog Legal). LC Engineering does NOT recommend wrapping our headers with any sort of exhaust wrap. Doing so will increase the likelihood of a premature failure of the header, as it holds contaminants to the exhaust tubing and increases the chances of corrosion. Exhaust wraps will void any and all warranty claims.
NOTE: Due to many fitment differences, we cannot quote fitment to any RV. These were a custom vehicle and not a standard dealership vehicle. We do have a Test Fit Header that we can ship to you with a return label for $75. This will be the only way to confirm fitment to anything considered an RV.
Installation Note:
Over 20+ years of producing these headers LC Engineering has made all attempts to make these header kits fit as best as possible. Unfortunately, there is a very small amount of applications that may require more extensive modification or even fabrication to make the connector pipe fit correctly. This is mostly contributed to numerous changes in Toyota's production along with aftermarket modifications. LC Engineering offers full technical support to make your fitment as easy as possible but they will not be responsible for any "custom" connector pipes.

Installation:
Follow the steps in the service manual for disassembly and removal of exhaust manifold and header pipe. Remove bracket from bell housing that retains original header pipe. This bracket will not be re-used. Clean all gasket surfaces before installing gaskets provided in header kit. Install header. Tighten all fasteners to factory torque specifications. Some factory heat shields may need to be removed to give clearance for the LC Engineering header. Due to Toyota's production changes with various exhaust systems, the connector pipe included may require some cutting and modifications on certain applications (direct-fit header kits only). The pipe was designed to be able to rotate as needed to align to factory exhaust and O2 sensor.
Exhaust Studs: Torque exhaust studs to 10ft-lbs and flange nuts to 33ft-lbs. We also offer new header mounting studs if needed (part #1045030).
Air Injection Manifold:
On some models there is an "Air Injection Manifold" that bolts to the flange of the factory exhaust manifold, this manifold will need to be re-installed on the header. To perform this installation you will have to remove the bolt tab that interferes with the number 4 (rear) header tube on certain year applications.
No Air Injection Manifold: On Models with no air injection the "Block off Plates" that are bolted to the factory exhaust manifold will need to be removed and reinstalled using the gaskets provided.
NOTES:
- Verify the length of the bolt used on the air injection manifold. The bolt cannot protrude past the header flange. Use flat washers to space the bolts properly. Due to the larger primary tubes on your new header you may have to trim your air injection plates so that they will not hit the primary tube welds on the header flange.
- LC Engineering recommends using O2 safe, high-temperature silicon (Copper RTV) on slip connections for small exhaust leaks. LC Engineering does not recommend the use of header wraps.
- Over 20+ years of producing these headers LC Engineering has made all attempts to make these header kits fit as best as possible. Unfortunately there are a very small amount of applications that may require more extensive modification or even fabrication to make the connector pipe fit correctly (direct-fit only). This is mostly contributed to numerous changes in Toyota's production along with aftermarket modifications. It cost a little more, but it fits.
This header went right into place like it found a new home, it is solid and has the weight of a quality product. I hate ordering things online, because you never know what you are going to get. This was a good experience so far as I have not installed it, I just fit tested for now.

excellent
Bolted right up and sounds amazing!!!

LCE 2wd 22R Header
I did a lot of research on headers for my truck and came down to final options of an LCE header or a Doug Thorley header. But then I heard a few stories on youtube about the flanges on Doug Thorley headers warping and causing exhaust leaks so I decided to go with LCE. I'm very happy with my purchase. The Quality is outstanding. There is no way a 1/2" flange will be warping and causing any exhaust leaks on me either. I'm also able to avoid down shifting on hills that I couldn't make it up in 5th gear before.

Sweeeet!! awesome product

Overview
First, Thank you for the excellent delivery. I have yet to install the header I received. I am leisurely reassembling my motor. I under stand the time and experience in making your own performance parts. from what I have read and heard from your company every thing is quality at its best The machining performed on the flange specifically the egr port and primarily the mating surface of the (flange) to head, to me under rated. basically I envisioned the surface to be nearly perfect. however I'm certain the gasket will mate the two surfaces together without fail. Thank you! best regards.
