Ultimate Chevy 63" Spring Swap Kit

Upgrade your Toyota Hilux, 4Runner, or Tacoma with the legendary Ultimate Chevy 63
Spring Swap Kit from Low Range Off-Road. Renowed in the off-road community for providing an incredible balance of on-road comfort and off-road articulation, this swap is the gold standard for riders looking to maximize performance without breaking the bank.

Why Swap to Chevy 63s?

Standard Toyota leaf springs are often stiff and limited in travel. By switching to 63-inch Chevrolet 1/2-ton springs, you introduce a massive increase in "flex" and a significantly softer ride quality. Because these springs are widely available at affordable prices, this kit provides a high-end suspension feel at a fraction of the cost of custom race springs.

Precision Engineering for a Seamless Fit

Chevy springs are 2.5 wide, while factory Toyota hangers are designed for 2.25" widths. Our kit bridges that gap perfectly. We've designed these components to adapt the wider Chevy bushings to your Toyota frame without the guesswork.

  • Front Hangers: Laser-cut from 1/4-inch steel plate and press-formed with a sloped profile to help you slide over trail obstacles rather than hanging up on them.
  • Heavy-Duty Shackles: 6" eye-to-eye shackles, CNC laser-cut and press-bent for maximum strength.
  • OEM Compatibility: The rear upper shackle hanger uses a Toyota-style design. This ensures that if you ever decide to return to stock Toyota leaves, you won't need to hunt for discontinued factory parts.

Technical FAQ

Question Expert Recommendation
Which springs do I need? Source 63" springs from a 1988-1998 1/2 ton Chevy or GMC truck. The 2WD 5-leaf version is ideal; 4WD versions work great if you remove one leaf.
Are longer shocks required? Yes. To take full advantage of the increased travel, we recommend using extended shocks. For maximum articulation, consider adding specialized upper and lower shock mounts.
Where do I weld the hangers?

'79-'88 Pickups: Approx. 11" forward of the original mount.

'89-'95 Pickups: Approx. 9" to 9.5" forward.

Always tack weld first and check for a shackle angle between 15° and 30° under load.
