FJ80 Heavy-Duty Tie Rod Kit
The factory steering components on the FJ80 were never designed to handle the stresses of modern off-roading, oversized tires, and technical rock crawling. The stock tie rod is notoriously prone to bending, which can lead to costly trail failures and ruined alignments. Don't let a weak link end your trip-upgrade to the LCE Heavy-Duty Tie Rod Kit and drive with confidence.
Rugged Construction & Engineering
- Heavy-Wall DOM Tubing: The main rod is precision crafted from 1.25" OD x 0.25" wall thickness 100% DOM tubing. Offering a massive increase in strength and rigidity over the thin-walled factory unit.
- Serviceable Performance: Features heavy-duty FJ80 tie rod ends that are greased for life and fully sealed to keep out trail grit, water, and debris.
- Precision Fitment: Each tie rod is precision tapped and test-fitted at the factory. Left-hand threads are clearly marked to ensure a hassle-free installation and easy alignment adjustments.
Ready for the Trail:
This kit is a complete solution designed to withstand the most punishing environments. Every set includes high-quality hardware, including cotter pins and jam nuts, to ensure your steering remains locked and secure even under extreme vibration.

1. Removal of Factory Hardware
- Remove the cotter pins and castle nuts from the existing tie rod ends.
- Remove the stock tie rod and ends from the vehicle and discard.
-Note: A Tie Rod Separator (Pickle Fork) may be required for removal.
2. Assembly of HD Tie Rod
- Thread the new tie rod ends and jam nuts into the HD Tie Rod.
- Identify Threads: The machined groove on the tie rod indicates the side with left-hand threads.
- Thread Engagement: Ensure only 3-4 threads are exposed.

- Install the provided castle nuts and secure them with new cotter pins.
4. Alignment & Toe-In Adjustment
- Straighten the steering wheel.
- With the jam nuts loose, rotate the tie rod to set the toe-in to 1/8".
- Measurement: Measure the distance between the widest part of the tires at both the front and the rear. Adjust until the front measurement is 1/8" narrower than the rear.
- Finalize: Securely tighten the jam nuts against the tie rod once the alignment is set.
Maintenance:
- Ongoing Inspection: Periodically inspect all mounting hardware, jam nuts, and tie rod ends. Tighten or service as necessary to ensure continued trail relaibility.
