MSD Ignition Tachometer Adapter (PN 8920)
Restore exact RPM gauge functionality to your dash after upgrading your ignition system. The MSD PN 8920 Tech Adapter is engineered to correct signal communication issues between high-output aftermarket ignition controls and factory or aftermarket tachometers.
When converting to a modern capacitive discharge (CD) ignition system, the modified trigger signal often prevents stock voltage-triggered or current-triggered tachometers from reading properly, causing the needle to bounce, drop to zero, or behave erratically. This module cleanly corrects the signal voltage to deliver precise, real-time RPM display.
Key Features & Specifications
- Essential Signal Correction: Corrects the operation of traditional voltage-triggered tachometers that cannot read directly from the standard tach output terminal on an aftermarket ignition box.
- Magnetic Pickup Compatible: Specifically required when utilizing the magnetic pickup input circuit (typically the green and violet wire configuration) to trigger your ignition control.
- Current-Triggered Support: Designed to work flawlessly with older current-triggered tachometers that are wired in series with the ignition switch.
- Broad Ignition Compatibility: Engineered to work seamlessly with MSD Ignition controls and fits perfectly with the line of high-performance FAST Ignitions carried right here at LCE.
- Rugged, Fully Encapsulated Housing: Built to withstand intense engine bay vibrations, high thermal cycling, and moisture expose.
Installation Note
Always verify your specific ignition trigger-wiring layout before installation to ensure the PN 8920 matches your vehicle's current tachometer trigger type (magnetic pickup vs. standard points/amplifier triggers).
