Super Metal Hub Stud Kit | High-Strength Front Hub Upgrade

Off-roading is an extreme hobby that demands extreme hardware. When you're pushing your Toyota truck to its limits, your hub studs are often the silent failure point. A sheared stud doesn't just mean a broken bolt-it means losing your 4WD and potentially rendering your entire hub unrepairable.

The Super Metal Hub Stud Kit as an affordable, high-strength solution to this common trail failure. Positioned as the primary developer of this hardware, LCE manufactures these kits to strict specifications specifically for the Toyota Aftermarket.

Engineered for the Trail

  • Performance Benchmarking: In independent testing, our Super Metal hardware exceeded Class 12.9 standards, clocking in at over 177,000 psi tensile strength. This makes them significantly stronger than OEM Toyota hardware and provides the technical credibility needed for extreme builds.
  • Problem/Solution Focus: By upgrading, you eliminate the risk of OEM failure which often leads to a complete loss of 4WD functionality. This kit is essential for maintaining drivetrain integrity during high-torque off-road maneuvers.
  • Rust & Corrosion Protection: Every stud is zinc-plated, ensuring your hardware remains protected from the elements through years of mud, snow, and trail grime.
  • Installation Feature: We've machined a 6mm hex head directly onto the top of each stud. This is a significant quality-of-life feature for DIY installers, allowing for simple, precise installation and maintenance without the need for specialized stud-removal tools.

Installation Instructions:

  1. Disassemble Hub Cover: Set locking hub to "Free." Remove the (6) cover bolts and lift off the cover.
  2. Remove Snap Ring: Use snap ring pliers to remove the axle shaft snap ring. Save for reuse.
  3. Remove Hub Hardware: Loosen the (6) stock nuts and washers. Use a tapered punch to gently tap and loosen the stock cone washers. Remove and discard the old nuts, washers, and cone washers.
  4. Remove Hub Body: Pull the locking hub body off and set aside for re-installation.
  5. Extract Stock Studs: Use a stud extractor or "double-nut" method to remove the (6) factory studs. Use penetrating oil if threads are seized.
  6. Clean & Prep: Thoroughly clean the threaded holes in the axle hub.
  7. Install Super Metal Studs: Thread in the new studs using a 6mm socket. Torque to factory specifications. (Optional: Apply Loctite to threads for added security.)
  8. Reinstall Hub Body: Slide the hun body back on, ensuring the dowel pins align correctly.
  9. Install New Hardware: Install the new Cone Washers, lock washers, and hex nuts.-
  10. Torque Hardware: Tighten nuts in a star pattern to 23 ft-lbs (or factory spec)
  11. Reset Axle Shaft: Thread a bolt into the axle shaft to pull it forward until the groove is visible. Reinstall the snap ring and remove the temporary bolt.
  12. Final Lubrication & Assembly: Apply grease to inner splines. Ensure the hub cover gasket is in place (new gasket recommended)
  13. Reinstall Cover: Align the follower tabs with the hub body. Reinstall the (6) cover screws and torque to 7 ft-lbs.
  14. Testing: Verify the locking hub smoothly transitions between "Lock" and "Free."

-Note: If using aftermarket hubs with thin flanges, an additional m8 flat washer (not included) may be required to ensure the nut bottoms out fully.
